Card game beta test.

Card Game Beta
Folks, I talked about these game a couple of weeks ago but we are getting ready to test a whole new suite of games.  We're covering the classics and we're totally excited about it.
Some of you may be asking what is a beta test?  Well here is the OFFICIAL definition:

A beta version is the first version released outside the organization or community that develops the software, for the purpose of evaluation or real-world. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release. Beta level software generally includes all features, but may also include known issues and bugs of a less serious variety.

What does that mean to you folks?  Well it means that the games are not in their final version and may have bugs.  We'll be sure to let everyone know what the bugs are.

What we need from you fine folks:
You need to let us know what you think of the game?
What you think can be done to make the game better?
Let us know what issues you have with the game?
Anything you can think of that we should know!

When you post an issue,  please be sure to include:
- Which game you are playing.
- Approximately the time your are playing
- What browser you are using (AOL or Internet Explorer)
- What operating system you have (Windows XP, Vista)

EDIT February 6th.  KNOWN BUGS
Web:
Help pages are empty except Gin Rummy “How to Play”
Stats needs work with how it displays data.
In the games results players names do not appear
There are no between game ads (this is good!)
"Play now" button on lobby page is not working correctly.
They send you to the lobby,
"last play" buttons are non-functional.
Other:
No Stars in the game yet (There will be)
The game CAN crash at times. It is rare.

EDIT February 12th
Oklahoma Gin has been added to the beta.  It is very nearly identical to Gin Rummy but the dead wood needed to knock is based on the first card turned over after the deal
There were about ten server crashes per day over the weekend but we've reduced that.
We're taking note of everyone's issues.  So keep them coming.

EDIT February 27th
We're collecting everyone's comments and are listening.
Some comments are new versions of the game and will not be in the game.
Please be aware that this is a beta and not the final version.
There are crashes on occasion that affect all the games.
Thanks everyone for being passionate about the games and keep the comments coming!

EDIT March 10th
We've heard your comments on Canasta and have a new user interface that should help everyone out.  This is expected to be out next week hopefully.
I'll be sure to let everyone know when it's out.

EDIT March 11th
Long awaited, but never forgotten,  Pinochle has been added to the beta program.

EDIT APRIL 7th.
Hearts has been updated with a ton of fixes.  Please log in and play again!

EDIT April 21st
We are happy to announce that Hearts has launched!  Thanks everyone who participated in the beta.  You can play our

This is your chance to shape our games and participate in our community. We need you to make our games great!

There is no animation if someone gets Gin

Couple of things I noticed.
There is a Take Stock or Take Disgard button, there should also be a Disgard button. We shouldn't have to drag or double click to disgard.
Also, Knock is not Gin. If You have Gin Rummy there should be a Gin button.
I had Gin, but didn't realize I had to click Knock, so ended up drawing another card.
Now if this is mentioned in the How To I apologize. I do know how to play Gin, so didn't read the,  :)

BUG:  Near the end of a game when one person is going to collect the remaining cards, I would click on "Ok" and the timer would reset and ask me the same question again. I clicked on "Ok" several times and the screen would not go away.

Timers are on the long side. I would suggest reducing them to 15 second rather than 30.

Canasta Beta....Game Freezes when draw pile runs out of cards.  Computer players hold on to cards after picking up pile that a normal sane person would not hold on to.  If you try to meld and don't have enough points, the game will let you pick up your cards, but won't let you continue to play (it wants a meld).  Won't let you change your mind.  Many, many gliches.

When you get all the bugs out, it will be another of my favorites.  Gin Rummy Beta is a great game.  I played on AOL with windowsXP from 8:00 till 9:30.  Had a blast playing.  Keep up the good work.

Anonymous said...

Played canasta through AOL on Windows XP (Home edition) at 9:00 a.m. PST.
Hard to see how many cards are down once they're melded and can't tell how many cards are "natural" and how many are wild.  Would be nice to know how many cards have been discarded and how many there are left to draw.  When dragging cards from hand to meld area, the card to be melded must be placed "just so" or it would jump back into my hand.

tried again a couple of times and the game still freezes up cards all over the place you need a lot of work on this site

i tested your cribbage beta game.  its currently 723am est on saturday feb 9th.  I am using aol as my isp and have windows xp.

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT IT:
The automatic timer is brilliant and you should keep it.  i love that  you get to score your own hand instead of having the computer do it.  I'm an avid cribbage player and thats half the fun, scoring your own hand and crib.  the overall design layout is nice and easy to use.

THINGS I THINK COULD BE TWEEKED A BIT:
Although i like being able to score my own hand, i could see where that would persent an issue if youre playing someone who is newer to the game.  The could take forever trying to figure out all the scoring combinations they have.  So maybe put in a timer when you score your hand.  Say 90 or 120 seconds maybe.

It's a little confusing when you leave the previous hand's cards on the table after reaching 31.  I tended to keep looking at them for possible runs, pairs, etc even though they didnt count for that round.  maybe think about removing them or turning them face down??

when selecting cards to put in the crib...i think its better if you are allowed to select two cards and then look at your hand before submitting both cards to the crib.  i selected one card and it went to the crib then realized i should have kept it and couldnt get it back.  in the other version, you select 2 cards and they pop up a bit so you can study your selection to make sure its the best one.  i think that is a better way to do it.

All in all, good job.  nice game and good graphics.

I have been playing Cribbage since I was seven. The game is pretty cool but, I have found times when the opp. has missed points and I caught it but it wouldn't let me get the points.

Anonymous said...

played canasta on AOL with WIndows XP - password should be unnecessary, you can type in anything and still get onto the game, when you are playing a private game against the computers, your computer partner is almost useless, games seem programmed to favor the computer as the winner - you should choose whether you want to have a partner or play on your own.

Anonymous said...

I played Cribbage via AOL, Windows XP, at 2:30 CST Feb 9th.  I had 4 clubs and a spade, but when I claimed my 4 clubs as a flush, it scored me as a 5 card flush? I like that you get to count your cards, but suggest a feature that lets players check/confirm their count.  That way newer players dont get frustrated, and more experienced players can click on check/confirm count and quickly see they have all the points claimed.
I dont like the small GO button that appears that the bottom.  It was hard to find initially. Also, it is hard to tell on the cribbage board which player is pegging as RED and which one is BLUE.  The green dot signaling who's play it is was very small and I did not see it for the first few games.
Also, I do not like all the cards showing face up even after 31 is reached. Confusing. Also I did not like the staggering affect for their opponents cards vs your cards on the play.
The D for dealer is not easy enough to understand.  Suggest leaving it to say DEALER.

Anonymous said...

One last note:  When I played Cribbage here today, and the opponent was taking a long time to count/claim their points, I kept thinking the game was frozen, or I was stuck. I suggest you add a pop up that states "Other player is counting their points" or something that states what is happening and why the screen is not moving.  If the pop up came on,  I would have known what the delay was and to wait. Also, if you end up playing a person that takes a long time to count, I can see it getting frustrating, so agree with an earlier blog that suggested adding a timer for the count.

Hearts, like it for the most part.
I have XP and get on thru AOL.
7:15 PM ( 2/9/08 ) The game has locked up with me a couple times in last two days.  Best game keeps messing up and showing my worst game ever. But have hope that all bugs will be worked out.
Wish it had more options as to the extra's that could be added or not played.
Looking forward to playing it when all the bugs are gone.

Anonymous said...

Gin Rummy I love it but you have to get rid of the fan and I agree it does freeze, puter robort beat me most of the time LOL  and I can't see the score. Am I doing something w rong? I can't get the whole page

Anonymous said...

I tried to access spades, but couldn't get in.  It kept giving me an error and said try again.  I access through aol on an XP system.  I will continue trying.  I love spades.

Thanks everyone.  These are really great comments.  I am passing them on to our developers to review.  Keep the comments coming as it VERY helpful.

When playing Gin Rummy,  after several hands of play,  there are loss of connections.  the games is lost and another game must restart on reconnect.

Anonymous said...

i am so glad you now have canasta and gin rummy, i have vista and aol is my access.  I have been trying to get an avitar and when it gets to edit avitar, screen never comes up just a blank page and caption across bottom says avatar builder working.  How do I get it to work.  and a few suggestions for canasta, there is no total running score posted while we are playing, not just at the end of each hand.  maybe a table we can set with options of one or two canastas, or two card pick up and a no discard and still play if only one card left in hand.
Thank you       Missjudged@aol.com

Playing Eucher using AOL I played a loner hand and my partner sat out the remainder of the game. WTH

Anonymous said...

playing the euchre game, the trump icon could be larger during the bidding to make it easier to follow

Anonymous said...

I played connasta via aol on a pc using Windows XP home version. I feel it is important for the player to have information on how many points are needed for the initial meld for each hand. A player should have the option of using a "no discard" button. The rules for going out should also be stated, IE; discard required. The option of playing a two player or four player game should be available regardless if it is with the avatars or online players. A window of your running points is also helpful along with a better stats window. I did not like having to open a new window to see the game stats. Even though it is much more difficult to play the way it is (or is not) set up, I am excited that it will be offered through AOL games!

Anonymous said...

I played the standard AOL Gin Rummy.  Good features, but can be improved if you add a GIN button and if you let the player sort.  It is not good to remember runs, only triplets.  I like the player is slow--dump him feature.  Suggest you put a scre summary into game when it is over so each player can see how they got their points.  Also should remember points in system, even though there is nothing to redeem them for.

Playing Canasta with computer partner and a friend on other hands. Enjoy the game, timer goes too quickly for my friend, so kept freezing up while it was asking to Remove her. Difficult to see how many natural and wild cards are in a pile. Would like to have a better way to see how many cards are in the pile and how many naturals there are. Maybe have the ability to click on the piles to look at what is in them. Glad that the pile stacks have numbers so you know what numbers are being used.

Anonymous said...

I love these card games.  Thank you for doing this.  I think this is going to make a lot of card players very happy.  Thanks again

Anonymous said...

A two player canasta would be nice

Anonymous said...

A two card draw game would be nice and also a two player game. It is very hard to see the Canasta piles  and which ones are useing wilds.. Also the game tosses out cards it has melded instead of useing them like they should.  TImer goes way to fast

I have to give you guys credit for at least trying to reach us poor vista users, but believe me after playing cribbAGE ON AOL POGO FOR AT LEAST NINE YEARS, THIS SUCKS!  I understand your  need ... and it is my need also, but the inner action with other cribbage players is all the fun....But I have to at least give you credeit for trying... it is way to slow.. but you can't do much about that.. some people count slower then others, I was usually faster then the cumputers on the other cribbage on popo. It was kinda confusing at first I didn't any points the first three hands until I figured it out. lol. good luck,

Anonymous said...

Needed is a way to tell how many cards are in pile.  If you have a lot of cards you can't see them because they are squeezed in tightly.  Need a way to spread out hand so we can see our hand.  Cannot see how many cards are in the discard piles by card number.  Two player game would be nice.  Help needs to be improved.

Overall its shaping up to be a good game and I hope you make some improvements.

I mostly play at night between 8 and 11 on AOL and am enjoying playing canasta but would like a few options:
1. Two player game.
2. It's very frustrating for your partner to consistently discard cards that are on our board.  All the computer players do this.
3.Would like to be able to tell how many cards are in a stack on the board and would like being able to play "no discard" with one card left in you hand.
Overall it's very enjoyable and easy to navigate.  Keep listening to the players and we'll get you straight! Ha Ha!
Thanks,

What do you do to leave the game "GIN RUMMY BETA" ??
When I am finished playing and want to leave the game and close my computer, I have a terrible time turning off the game.  What am I missing that would help me to do this more rapidly?

MS

Euchre - Don't like the table layout -- it is hard to see who is playing and the background is too busy.  I also liked the old version where the last card would automatically play itself -- assume we can set up profiles for the new game?  I didn't look into that.  Also, I do like the timer on the game with the option to boot players who are not playing.  However, when I was asked several times it seemed to still allow the player to stay for a long time before booting...but maybe that was due to the other players not responding quickly for the boot?  Will the old version be gone forever?

Anonymous said...

Spades = SUCKS!!!  Locked up on about the 6 th hand.

Anonymous said...

I played Euchre. The color scheme was horrible. I couldn't tell a diamond from a heart. I couldn't tell who called trump. I couldn't tell who was winning, who was losing and who was doing what (alone etc.) I think you need to go back to the drawing borad.

Anonymous said...

Played spades - if the game is not going to follow spades rules - why call the game spades?

Anonymous said...

windows xp, 4-530 pm pst, via aol

please do not hide the crib card when playing the robots.  scoring could be laborious for new players.  what happened to the visibility of the rankings of players?  this could avoid a newbie trying to play an expert.  the background is busy and not relative.

Anonymous said...

Once you reach a certain ranking level, you should be able to just type in the score of the hand rather than clicking on the various combinations, a seasoned cribbage player will be able to count points without clicking.

Anonymous said...

I have tried hearts and spades, but games will never be as fun at others online until you can change a few options on the games themselves.

Anonymous said...

Enjoyed the new Cribbage and like how we score our own points but would like to see if we missed any points

Played Canasta, Love the game but needs a few improvements,
1.  it is hard to tell how many you have in your melded stacks to know how many more you need to make a canasta
2.  needs to give th score as you go
3.  It is hard to tell when it is your turn, need more of a reminder.
4.  We need this game on line as the only other one I have found is pogo.

Will be a great game with a few improvements.

Anonymous said...

Played the canasta...love the game, always!  But...this one needs improvement.  Especially when playing with computers, they lay the wrong cards...like the one needed to win or gain a canasta!!!  Frustrating ... as much as the sl-o-o-w players are.

Anonymous said...

I played canasta tonight. No bugs that I know of, but some issues to make the games better.

1. You need a pass button or like in pogo a "no discard" button I found when I'm stuck with 1 card not playable and 1 that is meldable I cant meld that card because I'm forced to hold 1 card to give the next turn to the next player.
2. I know this one has already been said, but maybe if more people say it the more the site might decide to do it.... You need to make it where we see how many cards we have melded so we can see how many we have left to go to make a canasta. We are playing blind this way.. once we meld we cant see how many are in the stack.

3. lastly singles canasta.. 1 vs 1 and yes include bots to play in singles.

I played Gin Rummy.  I enjoyed playing it.  The only thing is that I had a little difficulty shuffling my cards in my hand.  Took some time to get them right, and the "time" showing at the bottom of the screen made me a little nervous.  But all in all, a good game.

Anonymous said...

Played your Oklahoma rummy.  Great game.  Enjoyed it!

RE: Euchre Site
Great site, great game. Needs many improvements/add-on's; cards remain on table after play, unable to get to other tables, nothing happens when you click on "availability," play hard to see when using default background, classic background is much better.

Anonymous said...

question for canasta and gin it just keeps saying not enough wins to change background and or cards.   How many wins do we need and where will it be posted.

in gin rummy i cannot figure how to call gin, how do i do so?

Anonymous said...

Played Pinochle...very nice.  Would have liked the help as a refresher....but game was intuitive once I played a few hands (and remembered some of the point values).  Liked how you dealt with slow play.  Would be nice to have a quick team counter to see how you were doing during the hand.  Didn't find any bugs, although it would freeze periodically...could just be traffic.  Played 11-12pm.  Explorer signed on to AOL with XP.  Thank you for adding this game...I will come back!

Anonymous said...

Canasta is not messed up. You Draw 2 cards each turn not one. If you are going to make a video game of a popular card game get the basic rules right.

Anonymous said...

I have played 172 games of Gin Rummy in the last week. There are a couple of issues that I came across while playing. 1) The game does not allow you to sort your cards how you want them.  It sorts according to card rank.  2) It chooses how to display the hand when a knock or gin is made.  Sometimes you end up with a larger knock value than what you would have had if you were able to set up your hand yourself.  3) I don't like the knock.  If I'm going to play gin rummy, I would like an option to cancel knock and play to gin.  This game still needs some work.

Cribbage Beta - 3/27/08 - 12:30 AM  -  No provision seems to have been made for claiming opponents points that are not counted.  Good game otherwise.

Just a few faults...*Keep getting knocked off when hand ends ? - *Avatar cannot be changed easily after picking original - *Otherwise good game

I tried the Euchre version.  It locked up on me a lot.  The mouse would move in jerky motions.  I didn't like it at all.

Why is it I keep getting kicked out of the games?
Gin,Euchre,Canasta,Spades all them???
Can not these game places get the Bugs Out??
I guess I need to go WalMart and buy the games so I can Play!!!

Euchre.....at the end of a hand, the game boots me out saying, "unable to find server." If you stay seated, the game will come back after 40-45 seconds.
This annoying......FIX IT!

I love the game..But where is the UN-DO button? And call me blind...but i have no idea how many cards are on the pile. If One pile needs 1 card ( wild card)  for a Canasta and another pile needs 2 and I only have one WILD CARD.... i should be able to see which one needs only the ONE instead of guessing. and did I mention the UN - DO button?...LOL

Euchre design is too hard on my eyes   Less crap more game please

Anonymous said...

RE; Euchre.
Lately, after 2 or 3 hands, it seems the game takes a break for a commercial.
Runs 30 seconds then returns to the game.
Why break after 2 or 3 hands?  This is stupid and slows the game. Take a commercial break when the game is over...not the HAND!
That's the way it's done on Club Pogo Euchre !!!!!

Anonymous said...

Yeah,  I noticed the ads are running far to often as well.  When the game is live they will only run every 15-20 minutes.

Anonymous said...

LOVE! this game!  Once I got the hang of how to play I had a great time.

Anonymous said...

Playing Gin you used to be able to rearrange the cards within your hand and now you cannot.  This makes it difficult to see your hand.

Anonymous said...

This is one of my favorite games.  The bugs in this Beta version are preventing me from playing because I'm not given the option to scroll it up enough to see the buttons to function.  For instance, I had gin a couple of times but can't get to the button to announce it or to knock.  Try getting the entire game in the window.  It is impossible to arrange the cards in your hand.  When sitting out the cards are not open to see.  The screen doesn't scroll to the side enough to type a message in chat either.  Perhaps you can get some tips to work out the bugs from the game Jungle Gin which I like.

Anonymous said...

I like the old game much, much better.......not happy with this at all.

Anonymous said...

First time using it on 64-bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate. It worked fine for a game and a half then I got disconnected; when I pressed ok to reconnect, it says connection refused.

Change card draws from 1 to 2.  Slow game with drawing of only one card.  Also, you can't pick up the discard hand with a card you already have a canasta on.  Thanks!

Gin Rummy:  I like the feel of the game, being able to move cards in your hand, etc...  Would it be possible to do Hollywood scoring (3 hands at once to 150 points)?  Maybe on private tables only...  Other than that I think this is the best gin game online...  Thanks...

AOL BETA EUCHRE
At the end of three or four hands, a stupid commercial interrupts the game. This is the third time a comment has been made regarding this.
Why not have the commercial at the END of the game.....where it belongs!!!

RE: Euchre beta.....
This is complaint #3 regarding the STUPID commercials that start after the third or fourth hand.  This is really irritating. Commercials should come at the end of the GAME...not the HAND!!!!
POGO euchre is at least that courteous!  So is euchre at Yahoo Games.

Anonymous said...

You need to learn how to play the game.  You stack the computer hands with wild cards and pairs on purpose.  If a player is playing with three comps the comps all work together.  You can have six of a suit on the board and the comp partner will discard that card to finish the suit because it looks at it like a singleton.  Whoever designed how the computers play this game lost all the nuance of the game.  Or you just geared the computers to cheat.

Anonymous said...

Playing this Gin Rummy is difficult. The game is usually easy, but the computer can go out while still holding alot of cards. When you as a player it seems at times can only go out when you holding 1 extra card. Also the points that are scored are not the same. I can lay down 3 aces and all face cards or a run of a suit and the computer will have 3 set of pairs and you only score 20 points. Then when its in reverse with the same hand the computer could score 43 points.

Anonymous said...

The game instructions for Canasta are almost non-existent. I have been able to learn other card games from the directions and/or from playing the computer to begin.
Please expand the instructions.

I started playing your spades beta this morning.  I like it with the exception of the avatars covering everything.....the bid, the tricks, even the winners of the hand.  It's annoying since I can't always remember what everyone has bid. This seems to happen when I am playing against someone who hasn't set up their avatar so it shows mine in their place.  I do love the block feature so when someone wants to run their mouth, I don't have to listen to it!

The game is Gin Rummy, I am very happy with the game itself, but I can not change my avatar. When I try to save it, a message pops up...."no token passed". Another guest said that you win tokens based on how many games you play, or how many wins, or points. It was something to that effect. However, I can't figure out how to get a token. I have won a lot, high score, and played a lot of games as well. Please explain what we really need to do so we are all clear.... Thank You.

Game of Canasta - Very enjoyable.  When being added to a game by "play now" I am all most always added with only computer players.  When I go to the lobby, there are lots of tables with only one human and 3 computers.  Being added to a "human" table is more fun.   It is hard to tell whether piles contain 5 or 6 cards.  The computers so many times choose to play a discard card that could make the team a canasta.  very frustrating!!!  Thanks.

Pinochle THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED!!

Anonymous said...

Pinochle on AOL...

I would like to have more time in the beginning to assess my cards. The front part is too rushed in my opinion. I barely have time to see my meld and whether it is worth bidding on; plus I don't have time to see what the other players are doing with their bids and what messages are hidden there. Also, you want time up front to strategize how you're going to play the hand out.

I would also like more info on the score as you play, such as how many points each side needs to make for their bid

Enjoyed playing it though....

Gin Rummy - How do I get the token for my Avitar?????????  I am using AOL's browser, and have XO...thank you.

playing cribbage.  Scoring screen for opponent is covering the extra card.  Also unable to take points if opponent misses them.  Otherwise, very fun.

Play spades Beta a lot, IE with win Vista, love it all of it have no problems with it.

Playing Canasta, computers don't seem to know how to play...would like a way to play 2 handed, draw two cards.  A better way to show red and black canastas would be nice.  I don't like the way the cards are layed out on board, no way to tell how many cards are truly layed down.

Playing Cribbage. The computers hand was 9 / J Q Q 10 and only scored a Run 4 for 4 (4 points ). Isn't this a 10 point hand??

In beta Canasta - I get thrown out of game - then computer or program won't let me reconnect.  This has happened numerous times.
this is very aggravating.  Please work on this.

Euchre Beta suggestions:
1) Put the first and second Pass buttons in the same spot.  If I do not want to order up the card, I click on the pass button.  And if I then don't want to bid, I can click on the second Pass button without having to move the mouse.
2) Instead of requiring a double-click to play a card, allow the option of a single click.
3) Once the points have been determined, allow the hand to end without requiring the rest of the cards to be played.

I can not use the beta lobbies almost all the time. Once in a long while can
I get into a lobby. Once I am in...the playing is great!Windows vista, E7, specifically- Euchre, Spades, Hearts, adn pinnochle.

Beta Canasta

My computer partner is just too stupid - can you program something to hit it with?

1.  When cursor is over stack of melded cards, tell me how many there are in the stack.  I can't count each one of those little cards.
2.  I couldn't pull back a Joker when I accidently placed it in the wrong pile - I had to quit to lobby and start over.  The cards don't always go where you want them to.
3.  I have never asked "to go out" in Canasta.  I just go out.  If my partner should know I only have two cards in my hand and will probably be going out.
4.  Dragging the card to discard doesn't always work - it pops right back into my hand.  Can you have us click on a card and then click discard or something?
5.  Game is too slow for me - have different speeds to choose from.  An experienced player gets very bored waiting for their stupid computer partner to discard the 7th Ace which would have been the canasta we were waiting for.

Thanks.

You Need a Undo Button

Why can't you set Pinochle up like dominoes where you play only with the computer?  Also when computer runs out of trumps it plays whaever color that has been played whether counters or not.  Also it seems that you stop for 30 seconds about every 4th game, other than what I mentioned I enjoy pinochle.

all games on your site wont load! i have to drop all securty programs just to get almost started and then after a long time i get nothing. yuor dialup shure does suck !

Computer partners discard cards that they can use on their own meld and also the opponents meld thus letting them pick up the pile. I'm constantly calling my partner STUPID for a play. This is definatly not ready for distribution. I'd much rather play against "real opponents". Also, one game I melded 160 points for a 120 meld and was told my meld wasn't enough. Partner also wouldn't play cards that would make a canasta thus going against us when the other team went out. You really need to go back to the drawing board and fix these things. It also seems the computer opponents know what's in your hand, discarding cards they have on the board.

Canasta needs a timer.  The timer is so fast sometimes you can't finish your play before it runs out and knocks you out of your seat.  The new table is much better, you can see how many cards have been played.  Stars are not showing up for me.

Anonymous said...

spades needs a time option, like canasta the timer is way fast.  also some options would make it much better like high 2's and passing and/or cutting cards.

I have played Canasta for years and you should not be able to pick up the discard pile if you have Canasta.  You can add cards to the Canasta but you cannot pick up the pile when there is a Canasta.  When playing with the computer as my partner it hangs on to cards that should be played so that you can add to them.

PLEASE WORK ON CANASTA. IT NEEDS SO MUCH YOU WOULD HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME TO KNOW  THEN IT WOULD BE VERY CLEAR ( AT LEAST MANY THINGS)I HAVE BEEN PLAYING IN POGO FOR YEARS THEY HAVE A GOOD CANASTA.   BUT FOR SURE HAVE ROOMS FOR 2 PLAYERS.  THE COMPUTERS ARE UNBELIEVEABLE.

Anonymous said...

This version of Canasta is no match for the Pogo Version.  Pogo is much better.  This version doesn't offer 2-player versions, it doesn't offer 1-card or 2-card plays, it's somewhat slow, the computer is constantly discarding cards that could be played on your melds & when we played you could discard your last card & not "go out".  Maybe we played wrong all those years but on this version with not being able to empty your hand without going out, you essentially get stuck.

Cribbage had good animation. I wanted to claim computer missed points.  I also wanted the opportunity to change my mind about crib cards when placing in opponent's crib first.  I will play again. Internet Explorer, Windows XP

I am enjoying playing the Canasta game, but too much depends on which team is controlling the discard pile.  I think the draw should be for two cards.  Also, when my team is getting slaughtered in a hand and we need to go out asap (just need one canasta), the computer won't make a canasta unless it can go out in the same play.  If it would make the canasta, I could go out.

Why does it say connection closed when you are in middle of a game. It says to click then click again and the select a seat and have added a player.

I was playing spades, with AOL browser,
on July 30th.   I didn't like it at all,
the game was too slow , and I hated
that play card button . I love the Jungle Gin
game on Pogo , it has cool sounds,
it's fun , it's not slow .  please give the games
some sounds and make them fun to play .
thanks, Maria Majo4@aol.com

server throws one out too often....don't like the prompts in canasta.... don't like the timer.....would like to be able to draw two cards.....lists the losers as winners...
don't like dragging the card to the discard pile...canasta on yahoo is far superior

Please fix so it won't say connection closed on pinochle and then freeze up and you have to get off and start over,

Anonymous said...

I keep getting a lost connection, very disturbing. fix it I won't play again. There is nothing worse than getting half thru a game and getting booted UUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Please act on the comments about the connection!!!

Anonymous said...

I like the new scoring for Cribbage Beta but ever since this change I keep having the games closed before they have been ended.  Before you hit the first turn the closed box drops down and the game is over.  This is very frustrating to someone who loves to play cribbage.

PLEASE FIX THIS - YOU ARE RUINING MY FUN!!!

Anonymous said...

Please fix Cribbage or take it offline.  It is unplayable and I'm tired of having my internet connection freeze because I keep hoping that the issue has been fixed!!  I would love to be able to play but I have not been able to complete one game in quite some time now.

Why do i keep being thrown off Beta Canasta? Every time I play this game if all of a sudden is gone. Is anyone else having this problem?

Anonymous said...

Why all of a sudden am I given a name of guest  and a number instead of my aim name?  Other players in Pinochle iare give their own names, why not me?

Anonymous said...

In pinochle you have made it hard to finish a game.  Either connection is broken in mioddle of game or guest numbers are given and they jump out.  It is better if you can play w/computer the game goes faster and is enjoyable.

Anonymous said...

3 times today I have been in the middle of a Ponichle game and someone wants to join & connection closed comes up and you loose your game.  Please do something about that, it takes the enjoyment out of the game.  Why can't they join without loosing connection?

Anonymous said...

i like canasta and i got thrown off the game and joined in as a watcher and why is this happening???

Anonymous said...

I was playing Cribbage.  When I finally went ahead of the computer, I got a message stating that the connection was closing.  What a farce!!  Also, the game moves way too slow.  It keeps it from being very interesting when it takes several minutes inbetween hands.

Anonymous said...

Please do something about pinochle, you have taken away our name and called us a guest with a number.  If someone joins while we are playing, connection is broken and everyone has to start over & have a different guest number.  Please put it back as it was, it was enjoyable,

Anonymous said...

This is terrible I had a good hand with a large number of trumps, computer came on and said connection closed and did away with my hand.  Why are you doing this?  Do you not want us to play pinochle?

Anonymous said...

Honestly, I think the most frustrating thing is that there are never any responses to all of these comments.  It's like you are ignoring your customers.  You potentially have some of the best card games out there.  It would be nice to know that you are even working on them...?

Anonymous said...

Thnak you for letting us have our name back and not calling us Guest and a number.

Anonymous said...

PLEASE FIX CONNECTION CLOSED.  iT WILL COME ON DURING GAME AND ERASE ALL PLAYING AND SCORES.  iT IS VERY DISTURBING.

Anonymous said...

In pinochle, when you are playing with the computer as partner, and they can't follow suit why do they play an ace or higher of another suit when they should be playing a low card.  Will you please fix this programming problem.thank you.

Anonymous said...

I have been playing canasta with several people usually 4 players. The games is wonderful when it works. It repeatedly disconnects usually when we have good hand and good meld. We rarely get through a whole game. Then we can't get back in and find each other. Very frustrating!! Defeats the purpose of being able to play online with other people. It does not seem that anyone is trying to fix the problem. It also freezes up frequently.

Anonymous said...

please program the computer when they are partner not to lead a suite that you are void, you have to trump & it uses all your trumps up because they keep leading that suite where you are void.  Also they always play their highest card of any suite not the one lead, when they can't follow suite even if it the opponent leading.

Anonymous said...

I wrote the comment below about leading when void, I am talking about pinochle.  Sorry I didn't mention the game.

Anonymous said...

Canasta game not good. Make it more like Pogo game.

Anonymous said...

Do NOT make Canasta like the Pogo Canasta.... PLEASE.

DO however, fix a few problems... the choosing of the cards is wonky. It's far easier and more intuitive to click on the deck to draw than to click a button you can barely see. It's not immediately clear how many of each card you currently have in play- for both teams... and for those of us who strategize and count cards in our heads this is a bad thing.

Also, one of the basic rules of Canasta is the ability to discard your last card WITHOUT going out. It is a common strategy, particularly when the cards get low.

Just try to stick to standard rules as much as possible (if avoiding Hoyle for copyright, stick to Goren)
