Getting Help!

It's come to my attention that people have troubles with our games.  I'm not going to go into a whole spiel about it.  I'm just going to put the links up so you know.
1.  Technical Assistance for games
2.  Pogo and Club Pogo games help
3.  Java installation help (Java,  you know,  the software that runs many of our games)
4.  You downloaded a game and need help with it
There are a ton more questions but these are the top level.
Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any issues.

Hello, Larry !

Thank You for posting the links!

One of the MOST aggravating problems with the AOL/POGO games is when you can't play them because they won't open up in AOL.

Then what?

You go around looking for help. Sometimes it's not easy to find, but you keep looking until you find some. Usually, you end up with some fairly simple advice that 80% of the time "fixes" your problem.

What about the other 20% ?

Well, unfortunately, people start "passing the buck".

AOL says it's not our fault. Try POGO or JAVA.
POGO says it's not us. Must be AOL or JAVA.
JAVA says it ain't our fault. Talk to AOL or POGO.

JEEZE, Louise !

In my case, I followed ALL of the advice, repeatedly, multiple times, but to no avail. I was, and AM still, unable to play any of the AOL/POGO games on AOL.

I believe that the problem is with AOL : NOT with POGO or JAVA. WHY ???

BEFORE the problem arose, both I and my wife, who is a Club Pogo member, were able to access and play any of the AOL/POGO games on AOL and NOW we can't.

Basic Troubleshooting 101 tells us that if everything was working fine and now it isn't, check to see what changed. Was something added/deleted? Any new hardware/software? Any of the controls/settings changed that might have caused the problem?

Simple stuff.

In our case, the ONLY thing new/different/changed was that I installed AOL's "Special Edition" of the McAfee Security Center.

BEFORE McAfee: games on AOL worked.
AFTER McAfee: games on AOL do NOT work !!!

NOTE : We can still easily access and play the AOL/POGO games using Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). Same computer, same JAVA, same games, different (successful!) results!

My theory: there is a "negative" interaction between AOL and their "Special Edition" McAfee Security Suite. This interaction is NOT evident when using IE7 in place of AOL. I do not know if it's caused by either program's coding, or a "ba
